Badgers

Badgers are short-legged animals and stocky, brown or black coat, carnivores belonging to the family dosmustelídeos (Mustelidae, the same family of mammals and ferrets, weasels, otters, and many other carnivores). There are eight species of badger, divided in these three subfamilies: Melinae (badgers of Europe and Asia - see links in species list below), Mellivorinae (the ratel or honey-badger-of), and Taxideinae (American badger). Badger stinky Asian gêneroMydaus used to be included with the Melinae, but recent evidence indicates that genéticas1 2 would actually Old World relatives of the skunks (family Mephitidae). Typical badgers (Meles Arctonyx, and species Taxidea Mellivora) have short legs and are corpulentos.3 The lower jaw is articulated to the upper by means of a transverse condyle firmly attached to a long cavity of the skull, so that movement of the jaw almost impossible. This allows the badger maintain their prey with a maximum tenacity, but limits the movement of a folding jaw in order to open and close or sliding from side to side without twisting motion allowed by the jaws of most mammals.
